If you have not visited the mall since it's renovation you are missing out! The Urban Food Market is a unique food court specializing in Italian Cuisine. The vendors are all so friendly and a good variety of food and flavors! Have no worries for Rose is keeping the doors open here at Harvest Moon on Saturdays from 9 am till 2 pm.
I was running my errands in Bainbridge this week and seems like every few weeks there is another mom & pop business that has closed. It always saddens me. I know all too well the hard work and sacrifices that are made to "own your own business" It usually is a dream or it may be a family run business that has been passed on through generations..... These are hard working, moms and dads trying to send their kids to college, pay for dance classes, grocery bills, etc..... and most of their money spent on their families AND their businesses are dollars they put back into YOUR small town and communities. It's a wonderful concept....but not everyone sadly doesn't think that way. I was thinking of all the positives for those that do "shop small" as we say. I would like to share some of these with you.
1) Service with a smile is a big one. I like that familiar face each week that greets me with a smile and actually knows what I might be needing and cares that I am receiving it. I know I try to go that extra mile to make you smile and who doesn't like to shake the hand that feeds you!
2) Save on gas and time. By not driving to the "big city" or large business chains I am saving gas and my valuable time of driving to and fro! Which also helps the environment :) and honestly, do you think they would miss you if you didn't buy that fruit or veggies each week like I do.
3) You know what you are getting and if by chance you have a problem or need an exchange well usually the small business owners make it a whole lot more pleasant and willing to "make it right". As, with eating, I much prefer knowing the farmers, where the farms are located and how my food is produced than trying to read all the labels at the store so I can see which country it came from. :(
4) Benefits? Yes, one of them is knowing that my dollars and hard earned money is going back into my community where my families live and thrive and you do too! So we all benefit, right?
ok stepping off my soapbox now....
