You're Invited! Harvest Moon Market is having a FALL HARVEST OPEN HOUSE at Harvest Moon Market Thursday Nov. 17th from 6-8 pm. Please come, taste our new products, meet our local farmers and vendors, get some fresh ideas for the holidays. We are so excited about the store being back open to the public and want to share our information on the CSA, plus see old friends and of course meet the new friends! So please try and stop in!
Another delicious week ahead! In our CSA Boxes this week will be red kale and collards from McClellan Organics, Harvest Moon cucumbers, celery, granny smith apples, cantaloupe, romaine lettuce, bi-color corn, potatoes, and broccolini!
Broccolini??? While it might look like a baby broccoli it is not. It is a lanky hybrid vegetable first created in 1993. It is a cross between broccoli and Chinese broccoli, it has small florets, long stalks, and a few small leaves-all of which are edible. Compared to the bitter flavor of regular broccoli, Broccolini is more mild, with a sweet, earthy taste. While it can be eaten raw, Broccolini is best when cooked. It can be sauteed, steamed, roasted, and grilled. You know how we like to change things up in our boxes! Enjoy!
